Shieldaig is one of the prettiest villages on the NC500 β a single row of white-painted houses facing a small island in Loch Torridon, with spectacular mountain scenery on all sides. The campsite above the village has expansive views across the loch and is a wonderful base for exploring the Torridon mountains and the Applecross Peninsula. The village has a small general store and the Tigh an Eilean hotel with an acclaimed restaurant. Walking, wildlife watching (sea eagles breed nearby) and kayaking are popular activities.
This site requires advance booking, especially in July and August. We strongly recommend booking at least 4β6 weeks ahead for summer visits.
