Tesco Extra at Eastfield Way is the largest supermarket conveniently placed at the start of the NC500. As a hypermarket format, it carries a very wide range including a pharmacy, café and optician — all potentially useful before heading into remote territory. This is the recommended main provisioning stop before beginning the route. The adjacent petrol station (see fuel stations) completes a very efficient combined stop.
