About Castle Stuart

Castle Stuart is a beautifully restored 17th-century tower house on the southern shore of the Moray Firth, just east of Inverness. The castle was originally built around 1625 by the Earl of Moray and has a notorious reputation for being haunted β€” legend holds that three chambers were offered to anyone brave enough to sleep there, with fatal consequences each time. Today the castle operates as a luxury accommodation and golf resort, home to Castle Stuart Golf Links, regularly rated among the top links courses in the world and host to the Scottish Open. The castle exterior and golf course can be viewed from the approach road, and the golf course itself is open to visitors who book tee times.
